About HGHA

Female hockey in North America is booming and the Huntsville Girls Hockey Association is proud to be a part of the movement!

The association was founded in 1972 and hit the ice with 1 Huntsville Honeys team. By the early 80's, womens hockey was picking up interest and the OWHA was formed to regulate the sport and provide greater opportunities to compete.

The 1982 Huntsville Honeys team had to rely on tournaments as their main source of competition as most rural Ontario teams were still struggling to ice teams and get ice time. That year the Honeys won 8 of 11 tournaments, and brought home the Provincial title!

The Huntsville Honeys of 1982 were inducted into the Huntsville Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.

With a name change in 2010 we became the Huntsville Sting, and we continue to promote and develop a fun, inclusive, safe and competitive hockey experience. Since our humble inception we have grown to 15 teams, and now offer programs for ages 5 - 21 in both house league and competitive streams, and host a home tournament each year.

Go Sting!
