Family Requirements and Volunteering

Parents, please review and complete the following requirements to ensure a safe and enjoyable hockey season!

Volunteer Requirement

All Sting families are required to volunteer 6 hours of their time over the season.

Volunteering can include:

  • Running the time clock and completing the gamesheet during home games.
  • Assisting with various tasks during our tournament weekend.

Volunteering for these types of activites does not require a vulnerable sector check (VSC) or any further certification. Your team Manager will reach out to you to organize this.

This is a great way for high school students to get those volunteer hours done!

If you are interested in volunteering on the ice, bench, as a team Manager or dressing room monitor, these types of activities do require a VSC and further certification. Please follow the detailed instructions under the Registration tab for Coaching and Team Staff registration.

Our volunteers form the backbone of this association. It is simply not possible to provide the opportunity to all our players to develop to their full potential and provide a fun, inclusive, safe and competitive hockey experience without them. A huge thank you goes out to all of our HGHA volunteers! The season would not be possible without you!

Respect in Sport

Hockey Canada policy requires that one parent from each hockey family must have completed the Respect in Sport for Parents program prior to start of the hockey season.  Please complete the following steps:

  1. Complete the online program: Respect in Sport for Parents
  2. Once completed, return to Ramp Registration and log in. Select "My Account Members" from the left side, then click "edit" under your players name. Locate the field to fill in the "Respect in Sport Parent Certificate" number.

Please have this completed and filled in by the time the first game is played.

If you have already completed the course previously, use the above link to look up your certification number. If you completed the course through the OMHA, please use this link.

Health and Safety

Please complete the medical form for each registered player and give the completed form to your team trainer at your first practice. All medical information is kept confidential.
